Marcia Derse, Fabric designer
Meredith Macleod, Mixed Media Artist
Side Market is an unprecedented collaboration between a fabric designer, a fine art conservator and two lifetime artists and makers.
Peggy Juve is a textile artist who creates one-of-a-kind artistic clothing.
Juve prints her own modern designs on silk and other fine fabrics before styling and draping to create pieces that are a carefully fashioned to compliment women of all shapes and sizes.
PJuve garments reveal a free-flowing effortless style that have few seams, reminicent of the forgiving designs of the 1920's; they lend a natural, stylish grace to any woman's shape. Careful construction details include hand stitching, bias banding and a considered blending of additional elements in each piece. Find her clothing, scarves, hats, and luxurious sweaters at Side Market.
Marcia Derse is a Whidbey fiber artist and fabric designer. Her work is known for its vibrant colors and bold painterly patterns. After a degree in typography from the University of Wisconsin and a full career as the owner of a successful independent children's bookstore Marcia became a full-time artist showing her work in galleries, museums and art fairs around the country. For the last five years she has focused on commercial fabric design; she currently designs collections for Windham Fabrics.
Currently available patterns and fabrics can be found at Side Market as well as a variety of handmade objects in marcia derse fabrics.
Meredith Macleod is a long time Whidbey Island artist who creates prints, one-of-a-kind paintings and an abundance of wearable items.
Her unique color sense and signature bird imagery is influenced by 1950s bird books, gauche paintings of textile patterns, Japanese woodblock artist Shiko Munakata and the photographs of Karl Blossfeldt.
Find the full range of her work available now at Side Market.
To keep things fresh and give a voice to local talent, Side Market will periodically offer space to the work of a featured artist. Check back often online and in person to check out our latest finds.
ON HOLIDAY fall feature
On Holiday is an independent leather atelier where limited edition leather products are created fully by hand by Molly. The leather is sourced from tanneries around the world, from Indian bookbinding leather to the butteriest English kip. Each original design is based on the individual qualities of the leather so no two products are ever the same.
